Oman Establishes U.S. Trade Office to Strengthen Bilateral Economic Ties
Washington, D.C. | May 14, 2025 — The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has officially launched the Oman Trade Office United States, marking a significant milestone in the Sultanate’s commitment to enhancing trade and investment relations with the U.S. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., under the patronage of His Excellency Talal bin Sulaiman al Rahbi, Oman's Ambassador to the United States.
The newly established Oman Trade Office US will serve as a strategic hub to enhance economic collaboration between the two nations. Its mission includes helping Omani businesses navigate and grow within the American market, encouraging U.S. companies to explore investment opportunities in Oman, and facilitating the flow of high-quality goods in both directions. By supporting mutual trade interests and encouraging deeper engagement between the private sectors of both countries, the office is poised to strengthen and expand the long-standing commercial partnership between Oman and the United States.
It will also coordinate trade delegations, organize business meetings, and provide consultations on leveraging the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement (FTA), in addition to issuing economic reports to support export development and mutual investment.
"The opening of the trade office in the United States is a significant strategic step towards empowering the Omani private sector and enhancing its presence in global markets," said H.E. Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI. "It aligns with OCCI’s broader efforts to expand trade and investment opportunities and to establish direct communication channels with major global economies."
H.E. Ibtisam bint Ahmed al Farooji, Undersecretary for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, emphasized that the launch of the office falls within Oman’s strategic objective to increase the flow of foreign direct investment and its contribution to the national economy. "This move aims to offer broader opportunities for American companies to enter the Omani market and benefit from the competitive business environment the Sultanate offers," she stated.
Ambassador H.E. Talal bin Sulaiman al Rahbi described the office as a new milestone in the commercial relations between the two nations. "This office is not merely a commercial representation designed to support Omani companies in the U.S. market, but also an effective platform for direct engagement between the business communities of both countries," he noted.
Emmee Haun, Managing Director of Oman Trade Office US, highlighted the office's role in offering specialized services and strategic support to investors and exporters from both nations. "It aims to build effective trade links, support bilateral business growth, and facilitate market access by organizing economic events, providing professional consultations, and promoting Omani products that meet the standards and requirements of the U.S. market," she explained.
The establishment of the Oman Trade Office US underscores the deepening economic partnership between Oman and the United States, building upon the foundation laid by the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement and ongoing strategic dialogues aimed at fostering mutual prosperity.
